Asleep In the Deep

I love bedrooms--a lot, but most of all, I love beds themselves. This is why:

Bonus points for a fabulous view, and what could be better than sloshing to sleep in a bath/bed? (especially wearing those shoes) ...probably not much!

Spring-a-Ling

Currently

Reading:

--An amazing poetry book. Here's an idea.
"Later, with the fire roaring hotly, wild flames and dragon children flare up in the belly of the stove. The grain in the dry oak is thrilled. At the edge of my heart's membrane, little creatures dance. There is warmth and a harking back to memory, to the child at the horizon when the earth was born. Tiny dragons and flames wild-dancing, singing, whirring like many-colored doves they become and become."

Hoping for
tickets to see:

and

Excited about:

--Tomorrow night!!!!!

Ode to Recycling

One of the assignments for my sculpture class was to make something out of cardboard, so, of course, I wanted to see what was already out there and get some ideas. Here are a few of my favorites:

We ended up just completely skipping the assignment altogether...which sucked, but I'm still saving cardboard and planning on making the perfect something soon.

Orange You Glad

Good joke huh?
But seriously, these are a few of my favorite pictures right now--look at what a statement even a little bit of the color adds...pretty great. The guy above is so cool he probably deserves his own post (gold shoes :) but I like grouping things together. Also, I want those shorts and am in love with everything involving the girl in the top image!

Did You See What I Saw?

This "seesaw" bench is such a cool idea! It was done by the Swedish designer Martin Nicolauson. He built it to facilitate conversation in an attempt at getting strangers to talk in public spaces. As Martin rightly points out, ‘This bench requires cooperation to be functional."

I bet you could have a lot of fun with this, and it's certainly nicer than some of the benches I've seen pictures of lately that announce your weight while you're seated. I don't know, which one would you rather see at the bus stop?

Darling It's Better Down Where It's Wetter.

I wonder what it would be like if humans could breathe underwater. Would some people decide to build their houses in lakes and start their own communities there with businesses, schools and playgrounds? Would they have their own set of laws and way of life or would they simply come up from their watery home each day, dry themselves off and join the rest of the world?

Since underwater cities don't seem to be a part of our near future, the next best thing is anything that lets us get as close to the water as possible, (besides actually diving under) whether it's a swimming pool that makes you feel like you survived a flood, a museum that exposes the seldom seen half of a lake, or a kayak or canoe in which it appears you are gliding over the water by magic.

Fun With Balloons

Spring '09/Dance Baby Dance

So the first picture is just for fun, and because I can't look at Jennifer Connolly without thinking of the Labyrinth. But really, I love the new Balmain collection-- especially this green one--fabulous!

Here's the rest of it: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/S2009RTW-BALMAIN?page=1

Pablo Neruda

Suddenly the wind howls and bangs at my shut window.

The sky is a net crammed with shadowy fish.

Here all the winds let go sooner or later, all of them.

Songs About Rainbows

Lately, I've been really into menswear. My favorites are usually experiments with color and I just can't get enough of how cool they look...look at Mr. Orange pants up there!

Secret Life

So tonight I decided to finally watch "The Secret Life of Bees" since I've been meaning to make time for it for the past few weeks. Anyways, I am so glad I did! There were a lot of pretty bad reviews for it but really, critics are lame. I cried about 5 times and the production design, photography, lighting etc were beautiful. It made me want to put on a dress and run through a field. And paint my house pink.
